1. Download the Whip Around Mobile App

For Andriod Users Utilizing a Tablet or Mobile Device

First, ensure you have the correct system requirements to run the app. You'll need to have an Android with a 6.0 operating system or later.

Open the Google Play Store on your tablet or mobile device and search for "Whip Around" under apps. Then click "Install".

For Apple Users on an iPad or iPhone

Check you have the correct system requirements for the app to work on your iPad or iPhone. You need to have iOS 12.0 or later installed. That's an iPhone 5S or more recent, and iPad models from 2013 or newer.

Open the Apple App Store on your iPhone or iPad. Search for Whip Around under Apps and click "Get" or the "Cloud Icon".

2. Login to the Whip Around App

There are three ways to log into the Whip Around app

1. Use SMS login

When logging into the app, choose "Use SMS login".

You'll be prompted to add your mobile number. This needs to be the same mobile number that it in your profile in the Whip Around account.

Click the "Send SMS link" button, and you'll receive a text message with the link inside.

Click the link, and you'll automatically be logged into the app.

2. Use biometrics to log in

You'll need to ensure that the biometrics are enabled on your device to use biometric login.

Whip Around supports two options for biometrics login

Touch ID on iOS and Fingerprint login on Andriod

Face ID on iOS and Facial recognition on Andriod

3. Login with a Username and Password

Whether you're an admin, manager, or mechanic, you'll use the username and password associated with your Whip Around Dashboard account to log into the mobile app.

The first time you log in manually, you'll need to know your username and password. You should have this from the first time you registered for Whip Around – either for a Free trial, a Basic (free) plan, or from your Customer Success Manager if they helped you register your account. You can log into the app by manually entering that information.

Open the app, enter your username and password, and click "Log in."

The next time you log in using a username and password, the screen will look more like this one.

Forgotten your password? You'll be given the option to reset your password when you log in using SMS.

Then, in future, you can choose to log in using your username and password if you'd like to.

A quick note on logging out

Once you are logged in, the app will not log you out even if you close the app. You will not be logged out unless you click "Log Out".

To log out, click into your profile and click the blue text link "Log out" on the top right-hand side of the screen.

3. Enable location sharing and push notifications

Upon downloading the Whip Around app for the first time, you will be prompted to allow Whip Around to see your location and send you push notifications. We recommend selecting "Allow" or granting permission in the "Settings".

Grant permission to allow access, so Whip Around can send you notifications of defects reported, missed inspections and other important notifications.

If you enabled location sharing, keep in mind that Whip Around is NOT a GPS tracking app, and we will not be able to follow your vehicle when you are using/not using the app. If you enable location sharing. Whip Around will simply be able to put a location stamp of where you are if you are in a role that needs to submit your inspection, which is an essential piece of information on vehicle inspection reports. Note, this is the same for driver profiles – Whip Around will not be able to track their driving routes or locations.
